The Aeneid was a mythological epic on 12 books that describe a seven-year wandering of the hero Aeneas from the collapse of Troy.  Aeneas then escaped from Troy carrying his father over his shoulders.  Then he led his son Ascanius to safety.  After that he had assembled a fleet and sailed the eastern Mediterranean Sea with the surviving Trojans to Thrace, Epirus, Sicily, and Crete before he had become ship wrecked off of the coast of Africa.  This is where Dido had fallen in love with Aeneas and was then drven to her suicide on his departure.  After landing at the tip of the Tiber River in Italy, Aeneas then killed Turnuss, during a war for the had in marriage of Lavinia.
              In my opinion this is a wonderful book to read.  It is your basic love story.  The most interesting part to me was when Dido committed suicide because of Aeneas.  That happened when he had left to go to Italy towards the Tiber River.  My least favorite part was when Aeneas had killed Turnuss for Lavinia.  That is my least favorite part, mainly because in the beginning his heart was to Aeneas.  But now he kills a man for a new love.  Aeneas truly loved him, in fact she could not live without him so she did away with her life.  This was a truly tragic love story.
              The Aeneid would be a superb book to recommend for someone to read.  Although this is a great book, it is not for everyone.  People with tender and caring hearts would most likely appreciate this book the most.  Love, greed, desire, and hate all compose this masterpiece.  No wonder this book became a classic during the Middle Ages.  A person with a coldness about them might be able to appreciate this book as well, but most likely not as much.  The coldness of the book like for instance, Dido killing her self for her true love, was not such a great moment.  To make all matters worsen Aeneas had forgotten about her, and had fallen in love with another women.  This is a sad but most heart warming novel, and I would recommend it to everyone that has a great soul.
