Tu Fu (712-770), was born in
China. The actual city where he was born is unknown.
We do know, however, that he was born somewhere near the capital city of
China, Bejing. There is no record of the names of Tu Fu's parents.
Tu Fu was an only child, he had no siblings.
There is no record of Tu Fus
parent's jobs, however we know they had an important role in their community,
because they were both extremely rich. Tu Fu did not move to
any other cities when he was a kid, however when he was a grown up, he
spent his times as a poor wanderer, and would travel from city to city.
Tu Fu's home, China is known for many things. The Chinese are well
known for their advancements in modern mathmatics. China is also
home to The Great Wall of China, a halacious monumental barrier which separated
and protected the ancient Chinese from the Huns, who were foreing invaders.
Not much is known about the
education of Tu Fu, however we know that he was well educated because you
can clearly see it in his poems.
In China at the time of Tu
Fu, it was considered an honor to serve in his Emperor's military.
When his age was ripe, Tu Fu, with ambitions of being a great military
leader, enlisted to become a member of the military. Before he could
do this, he had to pass the Civil Service Examination. Unfortunately,
Tu Fu could not do this, and could no longer be in the military.
Even though he failed this
exam, Tu Fu still did hold several official positions in his city, there
is no account of what these positions were. These positions never
really fufilled what Tu Fu wanted to be in life. Soon, Tu Fu left
his positions and became a wanderor. Often hungry and without
shelter, Tu Fu's only way to manage was to read his poems about how life
can be cruel, and how the poor are exploited.
Tu Fu was never married, he
had no family.
Tu Fu was brought up on the
ancient beleifs of the Confucian System. This 'way of belief' was
adopted by many of the richer Chinese. However, Tu Fu developed his
own religious beliefs while he spent his life as a wanderer.
Tu Fu is regarded as the greatest
Chinese poet to ever live. He wrote many poems, but could never publish
them in a book, therefor there is no actual great accomplishment other
than the poems that he loved. There was no record of his burial,
however, he became famous in a posthomous fashion.
