It opens with a flight of 10 young people from Florencein 1348, and the retire to a rich well-watered country side, where they each have a turn at being King and Queen. The word "Decameron" means Ten Days at work. Each of the days end with a song which contain some of Boccaccio's finest lyric poetry. He has a major theme of bourgeoisie lifestyle. In Decameron, Boccaccio expresses that man should except the world without negativity, and except the consequences of his own actions. With this book Boccaccio had a major effect on the Renaissance.
