Born
March 20, 1828, Henrik Ibsen was one of the most
controversial playwrights of his time. Brought up by parents
Knud and Marichen, Ibsen lived a happy child hood participating
heavily in the arts. While growing up in Skien, Norway, he
participated in such varied jobs as an apothecary's assistant to
an artist to an actor.

The play A Doll's House was one of Henrik Ibsen's most popular
and controversial plays. The story takes an audience member /
reader on a journey with the lead character Nora whose husband
keeps her isolated in a world of facades and helplessness.
