life:
Anton Checkhov was born in 1860 i n Taganrog, Russia.
He was thethird ofsix children in his family and grew to be known as the
fatherof modern shortstory writing. He was born into the lower-middleclass
life. Anton's father,Pavel, terrorized Anton andhis family.
Checkhov's mother,Yevgeniya, wasa very good influence onhim.
She was a very gifted stortyteller and wassaid to have givenCheckhovthe
gift of narrative.
Timeline:
1875-
Checkhov's father leaveshis family and they are kicked
out of their houses.
1879- Checkhov enrolls in University to study medicine.
1880- Checkhov begins first career as a writer.
1887- Checkhov succeeds in St. Petersburg with his first play, a light play named Ivanov.
1895- Moscow Art Theatre opens. Chekhov writes the Seagull.
1897- Checkhov suffers violent hemmorages. He's also experiencing migranes, dizzy spells, and palpitations of the heart.
1901 - Checkhov marries actress Olga Knipper.
1904-
Checkhov dies at the age of 44 due to two heatr attacks.
