DESPAIR
A wordless euphoria lifts me up on wings Brilliant and dazzling, a blinding light In a nimbus of radiance I soar Surrounded by overwhelming joy
For countless hours I soar, all else forgotten I see nothing, I only bask in the glory, In the splendour of my flight All else is neglected; ignored
As the day wanes and night's breeze becons The fires of flight begin to cool But I can not see or feel it as it happens But here within my core, I know
My shining wings molt and the lights all fade Thrusting me into a world of gravity and shade Like Icherus I plummet, my support is gone And despairingly I wonder what could have gone wrong
Below me the dark abyss opens for me I fall more readily, weeping, for the wings set me free Into the depths I go, awaiting wings that are gone And despairingly I wonder what could have gone wrong
