made alot of cash doing it too. Needless to say he was always rockin' fresh name brand clothes from the latest designers. "Hey KeKe! Wat's up?!" Just arriving to the park, Tiffany ran over to Lakia. Tiffany and Lakia were cousins but were mistaken for sisters. They looked alike, had the same taste in style, guys and just about anything else you could think of. "I heard 'bout how you did 'ol girl. You did a number on her 'cause her face is swollen and everything!" Excitedly, in a rushed sort of way, Tiffany babbled on and on about the fight, informing Lakia on the he-say, she-say that was going around. She stopped when she realized Lakia wasn't paying attention. Once again Lakia was daydreaming about Keith. Snapping Lakia out of her daydream, she asked, "What is up with you ma? Is there something you wanna tell me?" Concerned, Tiffany felt this rush of sympathy towards her cousin. Turning to face Tiffany Lakia sighed. "It's been a week since I've talked to Keith, but I can't get him off my mind. I never wanted it to end like this. No matter what, I always wanted us to be friends." Close to tears, Lakia confided in Tiffany as she often does. She told her almost everything about their relationship, thinking that it was really over. Surprised at some of the things Lakia had told her, she just sat there. "Tiff, I need your help! Don't just sit there!" whined Lakia. Not wanting to make the situation worse by upsetting Lakia, she hesitated before answering. Not overlooking the fact that he hit her, but not knowing Lakia's true feelings deep down, she left her advice neutral. "KeKe whatever you wanna do is up to you, just take time for yourself, ya know?" Appreciating Tiffany for not making any judgmental comments on Keith, she agreed. Getting up from the bleachers, they walked to the playground. On the way to the playground area they laughed, and talked about plenty of things. James spotted Lakia and jogged over to her. "What's up girl? I don' tol you 'bout fightin'!" he stated. Looking Lakia up and down he spun her around. Feeling overly excited to see him, she twirled around in a model type way, showing off her pink clingy dress. They hugged for what seemed a year to Tiffany who was still standing there. "Ahem." Clearing her throat, Tiffany tried to get her cousin's attention. Pulling away from each other, they looked at Tiffany. Strolling away, Tiffany announced, "I'm going to play with Lea and Mike." Walking over to the benches, Lakia and James sat and talked. Lakia and James had a unique relationship. They started off liking each other, but grew to realize they should remain friends. James was friends with both Lakia and Keith but he bonded with Lakia more on many different levels. So now with the conversation drifting to silence, James brought up the subject of Lakia's break up with Kith. Seeing that Lakia's attitude was bitter and sad towards the subject, he braced himself for what lay ahead. "KeKe, you know if there's anything you need to get off your chest, I'm here for you." Holding Lakia's hand and looking down into her deep brown eyes, she slowly looked up into his. Sighing, Lakia replied, "I know, and I'm sorry for being so distant, it's just that I don't know what I want, or what I want to do." Taking this opportunity to enlighten Lakia on the situation at hand, he started his "speech". Standing up, he lead her away from the benches onto the track. "KeKe, you know I care for you alot and we're real close. I got nothin' but love for you." Pausing, he let those words sink in before continuing. "Keith and me are good enough friends for me to know is life story ya kno?! And yea he played you with other chics but the one he really cares about is you. When you found him with Tina, he called me and didn't know what to do. He was telling me all these things about you that made you different from the rest. Interrupting him, Lakia said, "If I'm so different from the rest of them, then why he still messin' wit 'em?! I ain't never cheated on him, I actually care for him, and look what happens." Stopping, James turned Lakia to face him. "Cutie don't never let anybody disrespect you. There's a time when everything ill start to appear different and people change." Slowing down to a stop he placed his hands on her shoulder. "KeKe, I'm not trynna cross Keith or nothin' but it wouldn't be me if I didn't tell you how I feel about you. I know we've been friends for some years on the brother/sister level. But I can't deny the fact that my feelings for you are more than that now. I want you to be my girl." Cupping Lakia's face in his hands, he added, "I'm not asking for an answer now ma. I just had to let you know how I feel, you know what I'm sayin'?!" Replying, Lakia whispered, "Yea," unable to say anything more. She was
