The Teach Prep ProgramTeach Prep is designed for students with an interest in education as a career -- pre-K, elementary, middle, high school, or post secondary -- in a teaching position, administration, or counseling. Students receive in-class instruction and hands-on practice three days a week along with two days of in-house or off-campus practical experience. The Teach Prep Program consists of two main year-long courses: Teach Prep I and Teach Prep II. Program enrollees will learn about issues facing educators and the education system, as well as top-quality practices for development of skills valuable to later career development. Participants will also gain knowledge of the pros and cons of teaching as a career, as well as the design, implementation, and evaluation of lesson plans for educational settings. You may request more information or submit questions to Mrs. Marian Johnson at mstoutj@aol.com. Teach Prep ITeach Prep I is the first course in the teach Prep program, designed to usher students into the educational experience and foster development of preliminary skills valuable later in their careers. The first few weeks will be spent determining the area of teaching best suited to each program participant and attempting to "connect" each participant with a teacher for the grade level applicable to their interests. Once a successful match is found, students will leave campus to work at their practicum sites each Tuesday and Thursday during Teach Prep I. The on-site teacher for each student's experience will complete and evaluation that will determine part of the course grade for their student participant. Monday, Wednesday, Friday: The course will be held at Enloe, with discussions and activities focusing on topics that include lesson plan development, special programs, learning styles, and teaching behavior. Tuesday, Thursday: Students report directly to their practicum sites, and each will provide their own means of travel; site supervisors will be responsible for the assessment and direction of student activities on these days. Teach Prep IITeach Prep II is a continuation of the skill development and practicum experience begun during Teach Prep I. This segment of the Enloe Teach Prep program is an excellent opportunity for students to practice with their supervising teacher the skills learned in Teach Prep I. Monday - Thursday: Students report directly to their practicum sites for extended experience in their practical environments. Site supervisors are responsible for the assessment and direction of student activities on these days. Friday: Class is held at Enloe; students discuss activities, behaviors, and subjects similarly relevant to their experiences during their time spent with their supervising teachers.
