Enloe competed against top six other high school teams across North Carolina at Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Charlotte. Congratulations to Kushal Patel, Will Stelpflug, Yash Mehta and advisor/coach Mr. Keister.

Enloe Quiz Bowl

Both Quiz Bowl teams competed at Duke University yesterday in an NAQT qualified tournament. The A team took 2nd place and the B team took 4th place (their best finish this year). Natan Holtzman was top scorer for the day and Alex You took third place. The A team received yet another bid for Nationals, but only the top 2 teams qualified. The A team rather enjoyed beating the A teams from Green Hope HS and East Chapel Hill HS. Their only losses were to the Cave Springs HS from Virginia who took first place. The A team members on Saturday were Natan, Justin Luo, Saideep Gona, and Michael Schulte. The B team members were Alex, Charles Cao, Patrick Jones and Arjun Bhattacharya.

Enloe Math Team

The Algebra II team placed 5th, and was the only high school among middle schools. They seem a little embarrassed about this but the middle schools have time for contest practicing in the school day, and our kids did well and should be congratulated.
Anne Feng placed 9th individually and qualified for the state math competition!
The Comprehensive Team placed 1st. Wooooo! We beat some stiff competition, and I did get to talk for a good while to the Cary Academy coach (John Noland).
Calvin Deng placed first individually with a perfect score, Jason Liang placed 6th, and Amitoj Singh placed 9th.

RFA Short Story contest

Congratulations! As teachers of the students representing the top 48 manuscripts which were selected to be judged by our final judges, I am happy to say that one or more of your students were included in this group! The attached list will provide complete details. The 19 final winners and their teachers have been notified, and tomorrow I am mailing letters to the remaining 29 students commending them on their wonderful accomplishment. I am sure we can all agree that when you begin with over 800 stories and 628 are approved for preliminary judging, it is quite impressive to place in the top 48!
On behalf of Raleigh Fine Arts, THANK YOU for everything you have done to promote our contest. Without your support and enthusiasm, our efforts would not be possible. Year after year, YOU are the backbone of this project and we are most grateful.

The team that traveled to Winston-Salem today for the regional Comprehensive Math Contest at WSSU came home with the BIGGEST trophy we have gotten yet -- a wonderful first place. Tejas took 6th in individual honors and Allen took 5th place, so will advance to the State Math Contest last week. Said trophy will be on display in the office tomorrow. Please admire.
Last weekend another team of students competed at Elon's regional Comprehensive Math Contest. Justin Luo took 7th overall and the team took 3rd place. Justin will advance to the State Math Contest next week as well.
I have received official notification from the Mathematical Association of America that Justin Luo is the state-wide winner this year in the AMC 10 and Calvin Deng is the state-wide winner this year in the AMC 12 math contest. Each of them will be awarded a plaque next year at the NCCTM conference in October.

Science Olympiad

On Feburary 5th at Green Hope High School, one varsity and three junior varsity Science Olympiad teams from Enloe competed against North Carolina's strongest schools in the Raleigh Regional Science Olympiad competition. Driven by their own determination and preparation, with coaching froom Board members Melissa Chan, Arjun Ghattacharya, Sainath Asokan, Ivan Kuznetsov, and Jason Liang, the teams were impressively prapared and organized, and managed to collect three trophies and sixty (60) medals as they competed in 23 events. The varsity team finished second behind the North Carolina School of Science and Math and just ahead of Raleigh Charter High School; the Enloe JV1 team finished first overall, and Enloe JV3 finished second in the JV division (competing in the same events, but against other JV teams). Enloe also won, for the first time, the Regional Spirit Award for being generally positive and supportive of the overall process. Please contratulate any Science Olympiad student you see!

Quiz Bowl

Enloe's two Quiz Bowl teams competed in the Right Triangle Open at Raleigh Charter HS today. The morning round of play found the A team undefeated with Natan Holtzman taking top honors of the tournament for scoring. Alex You took 8th overall in scoring and he was absent for the first two rounds, while playing in the Brain Game meet at WRAL. The B team took 8th overall after the morning round of competition and lost their first game in the afternoon playoffs to Green Hope A, thus eliminated from the play-offs. Saideep Gona took 11th overall in scoring, Rachel Hoelzle took 12th and Patrick Jones took 13th. The A team played outstandingly this afternoon, losing their only game in the championship round to the Early College of Guilford A team by 50 points. Mind you, this is the same team we defeated last Saturday at St. Mary's AND today during the morning play, so ECG came back at us with a vengeance. In the final statistics, both teams had a 9-1 record, but Enloe beat ECG in every possible scoring category save one...we allowed an average of 198 points to our opponents and ECG allowed 178. Our next contest is in two weeks at South Caldwell HS where we hope to qualify the B team for Nationals since it is a PACE certified contest. Please congratulate the team members when you see them. They played their hearts out today and I am very proud of their efforts.
