AG/Advanced English 10   and  Civilizations & Cultures 10

Both courses are designed to challenge highly motivated students who wish to enroll in AG/Advanced English courses.

Curriculum Level Wake County Level 4/Academically Gifted
(Students are not required to be state-identified as Academically Gifted to take Level 4 courses. No separate Level 3/Advanced/Honors course is offered.)
Long-Term Prepares student for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, as well as for post-secondary college success.
Curriculum Content
English World Literature
Social Studies World Civilizations
Teaching Approach English teacher determines syllabus and plans assignments. Interdisciplinary -  World Literature in conjunction with World Civilizations. Teachers work together to coordinate syllabus and plan assignments. Some readings chosen to complement social studies.
Grading Each class graded separately. Student earns separate grades for World Literature and World Civilizations, although some projects may involve assignments for and evaluation by both courses.
Schedule One period for World Literature. Students have separate social studies course at another period during the day. Two consecutive periods for World Literature and World Civilizations, allowing flexible use of class time.

Registration Students select separate courses:
  1. English 10 AG/Honors (10225AYB)
  2. World Civilizations Honors (40085XY) or Academic (40242XY)
Students select:
  1. Civilizations and Cultures for English (10225AYC)
  2. Civilizations and Cultures for World Civilizations (40245AYC)
Both are AG/Honors level.
