Career CenterSharon Manning, Enloe's Career Development Coordinator, assists students with career information, career assessments, armed services information, job shadowing opportunities, and post-secondary transition plans. She serves as the school's liaison with local business leaders, posts information on summer internships, and provides current job market information for students. Her office is in the Guidance Career Center in the West Building. She can be reached by phone at (919) 856-7878. Job ShadowingJob shadowing is an excellent way to find out about a career in which you are interested. Spending a day with someone who is actually working in that particular career can be a real eye-opener. If you are a senior, check with Ms. Manning in the Guidance Career Center for more information about how she can arrange a job shadowing experience for you. Wake Tech ToursAn opportunity will be available for seniors to tour Wake Tech and find out about their college transfer programs and/or specialty programs. Each spring seniors may travel with Ms. Manning to spend the morning at Wake Tech, visiting the admissions counselor, the financial aid officer, the bookstore, the learning center, and some of the classes in progress. See Ms. Manning to sign up for one of the trips. Bus transportation will be provided. Need a Job?Part-time jobs are posted in the "Need a Job" notebook in the Guidance Career Center, as well as on bulletin boards in classrooms. Be sure to check out the listings. The test provides information useful for educational and career decision-making in both civilian and military occupations. The military uses the ASVAB scores to determine the qualifications of students interested in enlistment and job placement in any branch of the military. The test is available to juniors and seniors and advanced registration is required by signing up in the Guidance Career Center. Release of Student Information to Recruiters(Military and Institutions of Higher Education)Federal law 107-110 (No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Section 9528) requires schools to provide recruiters from the military and institutions of higher education, upon request, with the name, address, and telephone number of enrolled students. Any parent, guardian, or eligible student (18 years of age) who does not wish to have this directory information released MUST NOTIFY THE SCHOOL IN WRITING WITHIN THE FIRST TWENTY (20) DAYS OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. To remove a student’s name from the distribution list, complete the “Opt Out” information, sign where appropriate, and return it to Sharon Manning, Enloe’s Career Development Coordinator.
