Age: 18

Birthday: December 19th, 1986

Favorite Part of This Experience: My favorite part of this whole trip was being able to spend quality time with my partner and his family. I learned so many interesting things about Chinese culture. Liu Sai’s family and I made Chinese Dumplings together at his grandmother’s house. At this point in the exchange, I really felt like I was part of the family. No matter how much I struggled with trying to use chopsticks, everyone was always there to support me and spend lots of time helping me practice learning to do things appropriately. This included not only chopsticks, but the Chinese language, how to present myself, and everyday explanations, etc. I was included in everything that his family did.

Interests: Soccer, Track and Field, Spanish and Chinese language

Favorite Subject: Math, Spanish, Chinese and English

Future Plans: In the future, I plan to attend University of North Carolina where I want to major in International Business, Chinese, and Spanish. I will also run track for UNC and hopefully one day be able to study Chinese through another foreign exchange in China.
